I keep getting emails that tell me my PayPal account has been suspended, what should I do?

There are currently a huge number of fake emails doing the rounds. In general they pertain to come from British banks, Pay Pal and EBay. They come in many different forms, but basically they report that your account has been placed on hold or there is a problem with it and you should use the link in the email to correct the problem. Some of these look very real, although one I got yesterday came from PayPal!

Needless to say this is a scam, you follow the link, login to your account and hey presto they have your username and password. Under no circumstances should you even open such emails, let alone follow the link, just delete it.

Now, I appreciate that it might get you a little worried, a little like when someone asks you if you are sure you locked the front door, there's always part of you that wonders “...Did I?”. The advice is simple, if one of these emails does get you worried about your account, delete the email without reading it, access your account using the official link that you would normally use to access your online bank, Pay Pal or Ebay account and login as you would normally.

Now you are securely logged into your account, you can check the status of it in perfect safety. If you can't access your bank online, ring your branch to give you piece of mind.

Remember, no professional company will ever ask you to furnish your username and password by email. These scams rely on making you worried enough to have a quick look!.
