Samsung has launched two new pay-as-you-go handsets that tap into the fast-growing budget touchscreen market just in time for Christmas.
We first got wind of the S5560 and the B3410 earlier this month, but now we know they will go on sale next week from the Carphone Warehouse, and for how much.
With LG already doing a roaring trade in the touchscreen bargain bin, the £99.95 B3410 saddles up with a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.6in screen and a 2MP camera, though 3G and WiFi are notable for their absence.
If that’s just too spartan for your tastes, an extra £50 will get you the S5560, which adds WiFi, bumps the screen size to 3in and the camera resolution to 5MP.
Given their lack of more advanced (and pricier) functionality, these touchscreen featherweights are billed very much as being aimed at the social network-savvy youth. Welcome child-friendly features include the ability to send quickfire emergency free texts to pre-defined numbers and a “fake call” button, which makes the phone ring as if you’re receiving an incoming call.
